Kakolem Waterfall
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Kakolem Waterfall is a hidden gem in South Goa, cascading down cliffs onto a secluded beach. Surrounded by rocky terrain and lush greenery, it's ideal for adventure seekers looking to explore Goa's offbeat natural beauty.

About

Kakolem Waterfall

Kakolem Waterfall is one of the rare waterfalls cascading directly onto a beach, creating a magical scene. Situated at Kakolem Beach (also known as Tiger Beach) in South Goa, it's a seasonal waterfall that appears during the monsoon and early post-monsoon months. The fresh stream flows down the cliffs straight onto the sands before joining the Arabian Sea, making it one of India's few beach waterfalls.

Kakolem Beach & Location

Located in Canacona taluka, Kakolem Waterfall in Goa is a hidden natural wonder accessible via Kakolem (Tiger) Beach. Fern- and palm-fringed cliffs and the roaring waterfall make it one of the most picturesque and secluded spots in Goa. The beach is remote, rugged, and pristine with rocky cliffs, towering palms, and two cascading waterfalls. No shacks—just sand, water, and a sense of adventure.

Unique Beach Waterfall Experience

Kakolem Waterfall Goa is famous for being one of India's few beach waterfalls, offering a unique natural spectacle.

  • Dual waterfalls: One at the main cove and another in a nearby secluded rock cove
  • Freshwater pools: Clear pools form on the golden sands where waterfall meets beach
  • Seasonal flow: Most vigorous during and after monsoon (June to November)
  • Pristine setting: Clean sands, near-total solitude, and untouched natural beauty

Trek & Access

Reaching Kakolem Waterfall requires a steep trek down rocky steps carved into the hillside.

  • Trek distance: 200-300 meters descent
  • Trek time: 10-20 minutes (one way)
  • Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult – steep, rocky, uneven steps
  • Alternative: Reach by boat from Cola, Agonda, or Palolem beaches

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Kakolem Waterfall is from October to February when the waterfall still flows and the trekking path is safer. During monsoon (June-September), the waterfall is at its most spectacular but access may be difficult due to slippery trails and heavy rains. Post-monsoon offers the perfect balance of water flow and safe trekking conditions.
