About
The Legend of Dona Paula
The beach is named after Dona Paula de Menezes, the daughter of a Portuguese Viceroy. Legend says she jumped off the cliff when her father forbade her from marrying a local fisherman. However, historical research indicates that Paula Amaral Antonio de Menezes was a noblewoman who arrived in Goa in 1644 and was known for her immense charity and contribution to the development of the village. Regardless of the story you choose to believe, the romantic aura of the place remains undeniable.
